I have personally been a huge fan of Rebecca's art for years, she is without a shadow of a doubt one of my favourite artists, not just due to the fact she uses Neon as her main focus choice of medium but her poetry behind the light is so beautiful, gritty, humorous and some what comforting, it feels like your reading through the depths of her heart and mind and it resonates with us from all walks of life.
Contemporary artist Rebecca Mason works with neon light to create truly unique, striking and interesting pieces.
"Her work explores the darker side of human nature through the medium of light, for a conceptually powerful juxtaposition. In using neon, Mason allows the seediness of the city to seep into the delicacy of her work, which is always centred around typography, offering a slight but profound comment on human existence and emotion."
‘Take me as I am’ depicts the single word ‘Flaws’, each letter bent from bright white strips of neon light. The eye-catching word is set against a black background, onto which Mason has printed a poetic and emotive paragraph, that explores both the nature of art and the deeply personal. The interplay of light and dark is mesmerising and profoundly beautiful and Mason’s message is life-affirming: a brilliant moment of illumination in an all-too-often dark world
